Sound
(Diegetic / Non Diegetic)
|
The music that goes through out the scene is non-diegetic.
It is upbeat throughout. The song that is playing links to the prison theme
of the TV show and makes the audience sympathise with the characters who are
in prison.
Towards the end there is another non- diegetic sound of
gates being shut which sets the location it makes the audience aware that
everything is going to be happening in the prison

Editing
|
Throughout the whole scene there are white to black
transitions as it goes from one person to another which portrays that there
are a lot of people involved in the show. The pace of the scene is quite
intense throughout however on key parts such as when they place their
fingerprint into the system it slows down which shows that this is something
important and it makes the audience feel like they are in the scene as well
by seeing this key information that only prisoners would.
|
Cinematography
|
The scene mainly consists of extreme close ups of facial
parts of women such as lips and eyes this shows that probably the tv show
will reveal personal information about the characters it makes the audience
question what each one of the characters have done to go to prison.
There are also wide establishing shots such as the shot of
the telephones in prison this shows that this is an important part of
inmate’s life and makes the audience again sympathise for the people.
|
Mise en scene & lighting
|
In the key scene I have chosen there a a few props and
costumes used such as handcuffs, prison clothes , fingerprint ink and
documents, prison phones and prison time schedule. The reason there are not
so many us because they want to give a hint to the audience where will the Tv
show be and also the use of the props is shown very spread in the scene that
it highlights the main objects in prison and shows hardness and toughness to
portray the environment the character will be in.
|
Effects (Visual/Special)
|
In the moment where the prison uniform is revealed there
is a dark to light transition that shows that highlights the importance of
that moment as this is when the realisation moment hits for the people who go
to prison. This makes the audience aware of the fact that the tv show will be
related to prison or perhaps committing a crime, it makes them feel curios
about what type of crime might have the character committed.
There is also a moment of where the song beat goes very
quick and the second verse starts that all the different faces shown go
really fast too which is fast forwording and it is done to show the difference
between the period of which these women are staying in prison it portrays
that some are going to be let out soon and some really late, which makes the
audience sympathise for them as it can also show the duration of the days for
an example one day may go really fast and the other could go really slow, so
in a way again it is showing the prison environment.
